Ancestors of Imam Bukhari

The first of his ancestors who embraced Islam was Al-Mughira. In another work, it is stated that former of Al-Bukhari’s ancestors called Al-Ahnaf, it is therefore, possible that Yazdibah was really Ahnaf or club-footed. Bukhari means belonging to Bukhara, a great city of Trans-oxiana. Presently, Bukhara is the city of Azarbaijan, a central Asian state. Previously, Azarbaijan was a province of USSR. Bukhara is located nearby Sakarkand and Khartank is a village in the district of Samarkand. We have already spoken of Ju’fi. Al-Bukhari surnamed Al-Jufi, because his family were maulas to Sa’id ibn Ja’far Al-Ju’fi, the governor of Khurasan).
